things I like lately

Svoltaccarozze winery, restaurant, bed and breakfast, Tuscany 2011 // Fuji Pro 160S, Olympus mju

- Sverre turned 2 last Friday. 2 is such a fun, adorable age.
- he got a few pieces of clothing from the Gray Label as birthday gifts - such lovely, soft clothing!
- snacking on carrots and white bean dip - with a healthy pinch of cayenne
- Ingvild has built a beautiful daybed inspired by the one we had in Bergen - which makes me miss ours a whole lot. PS: daybed diy and corner version
- these shoes
- a new yoga mat for my home workouts. Well, two to be honest. I have no experience with yoga mats (or yoga), so I couldn't decide which one to get, or which one is the better one, so I got two; this and this.
- speaking of home workouts. After two months of daily 7 minutes workouts and discovering that I do actually have something called a tricep muscle (who knew?!), I have started the BodyBoss program. I'm only on week two of the pre-training program, but I'm loving it.
- the fact that I'm prioritising and feeling motivated to work out - I haven't had a proper workout routine in ages
- watching Sverre pretend to work out like me
- watched a documentary about cross fit ("Fittest on Earth: A Decade of Fitness") on Netflix and was totally fascinated by how fit and strong people can be
- this cracks me up
- the basement floors are finished and all our things have been moved back in. It's all still in boxes, so the work isn't done yet though.
- winning in the wine lottery at work two Fridays in a row

Things I don't like lately

- very little time and energy to prioritise blogging. Sometimes I feel like quitting and just keeping my Instagram (I'm halloastrid), but then I remind myself of this: why I won't close my blog
- my voice disappeared over night - which made teaching a little challenging today...
- Grandiosa frozen pizza for dinner three nights in a row due to total dinner planning fail. I did have a green smoothie with plenty of greens each day though.

life, week 37

Days are busy from dawn till dusk, yet I always make time to prepare a smoothie and healthy snacks keep me going through the day. #iquitsweettreats is going pretty well. How about you?

ready for roasting // will add avocado and feta for lunch tomorrow

A favorite in the early autumn flower beds.

It's coming.

Another week, another fort.

It was a really good afternoon.

practice, practice, practice

2! And so happy to point out the animal stickers he didn't want to go inside.

Sooo proud of his crown and birthday poster!

He even brought it inside when we went to pick up Sara at school.

Saturday morning mood

To drink coffee in the warm September sun after a Saturday afternoon nap.

the start of his career in kindergarten art

We do a lot of reading here, especially the Ingrid and Thomas books.

The not so photogenic mix of spinach, kale and strawberry.

Sunday afternoon mood // he really wanted to go in the water but he definitely found it too cold

To end the weekend like this. (It was not all pure bliss, but it never is, is it?)

Week 37: September 11-17

life, week 36

Monday 8 am, 10c and rising. Not a cloud in sight. Got to work a little later than expected because I had to wake up sleepyhead Sverre at 0730 am.

dinner planning with the fresh school girl // the second and third lines are her attempts at writing like adults

morning coffee with a view // slowly making progress in the basement

...which is great, because...

...I'm tired of having a basement... this.

Afternoons with a soon to be two years old (in one week!)...

...involves books...

...more than I realised.

lunch boxes for tomorrow ✔️ new blog post ✔️ in bed before 10 pm 👎🏻😬

Saturday morning accomplishment // granola #5 is 🙌🏻 @mollyorangette

Saturday shopping before the crowds.

First run in a very long time...

...but it was one I didn't want to miss #meilenfuerrobert

Because sometimes all you need is your best friends and to drink wine from a straw.

All the willpower on a Sunday afternoon. And coffee!

things I like lately

Kodak Ektar 100, Minolta SRT 101

- biking to work - the fresh air does wonders, both in the morning and afternoon. (It's just 3,5 km one way - of course I should bike!)
- a new to me podcast favorite: Lindmo & Co (in Norwegian) - elsker Anne Lindmo!
- discovering that Granit has opened in Stavanger - I'm a sucker for home organising stores like this!
- the color of this pillow from Granit
- discovering peach coloured gladiolus in the big perennial bed - I had forgotten that we planted them. Not too happy with the mix with yellow echinacea and yellow, orange and red nasturtiums though. (First world problems, I know...)
- conversations with my oh so talkative soon to be (in one week!) two year old - I love hearing how quickly his language is developing these days
- meal prep inspiration, for example how women meal prep for the week ahead (via Hjartesmil), #myndidmealprep and #lfamealprep
- reading dinosaur ("taur" as Sverre says) books for Sverre in the afternoon sun on the terrace
- Sara writing shopping lists and letters
- progress in the basement - new floors are being installed

- - -

Things I don't like lately

- being tired
- sweet treats are sneaking their way back into my evenings - still eating my share of vegetables though

life, week 35

Monday 7:10 am, 14c and overcast. Just had breakfast all by myself. Now it's time to wake up the rest of the family.

snack box of the day

Uninterrupted time in the kitchen whilst the kids play happily (!) together. #everydaybliss #mamabliss

new traditions

Mornings are chillier yet it's warm enough for sandals during the day. Birch leaves have started falling and the light is changing. Summer is coming to an end.

A new afternoon habit: a homemade smoothie to keep me going through kindergarten and SFO pick up until dinner. This one is spinach, green peas, broccoli, avocado, rolled oats, linseed, banana and apple juice.

Grandfather celebration. Jumbo straws courtesy of granddaughter.

Possibly the best Duplo building team there is.

Sunday nap time mood // with Wergeland & co for company

Another Sunday and another museum request from Sara: Oljemuseet (the petroleum museum). Sverre's favorite part: the water. Moments later the fire alarm went off and we had to leave. Will have to go back and see the rest later then.

Sunday in the city // Geoparken, outside the petroleum museum - always a winner

things I like lately

from the Bergen apartment archives // Kodak Portra 400, Canon EOS 500N

- noticing that mornings and evenings are a little chillier (it has dropped below 10c already) and the light has changed - I love the transition from one season to another, yet I must admit I'm a little ambivalent about the coming of autumn...
- listening to the rain outside my bedroom window as I fall asleep
- swimming under the stars
- a couple of After Eights after a creamy salmon pasta dinner at Matmagasinet
- making oatmeal for breakfast - there is something so comforting about it
- celebrating my father-in-law's birthday and seeing how eager Sara was in the preparation for the party
- Linn has started blogging again
- catching up with girlfriends over dinner
- listening to the stories my brave friend K tells from her work with the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders all around the world - such contrasts my life as a mamma, teacher and student
- fresh croissants and bread delivered to my front door on a Sunday morning
- a haircut - it has been a while
- homemade red currant cordial and raspberry jam deliveries from my mother-in-law
- a sunny weekend

- - -

Things I don't like lately

- feeling overwhelmed about the busyness of everyday life - already... Hopefully this will change - at least a little bit - when I get more into the swing of things

Iceland // oh the smell of rotten eggs

If only I could let you smell the warm scent of rotten eggs...

Hverir is definitely like a different planet!

I overheard an Englishman saying: "It's like swimming in boiled egg water." To the point, I must say!

12 degrees Celsius and rain // it was divine // Myvatn Nature Baths

evening walk in Dimmuborgir // in the car back to the hotel we introduced the kids to one of Norway's biggest musical exports, namely Dimmu Borgir - not our first choice of music, to be honest
